As you journey to Andasibe, discover Madagascar’s rural life along picturesque rice paddies, quaint redbrick houses, and roadside stalls selling seasonal fruits and vegetables.

After settling into your lodge, visit a private reserve operated by local NGO Mitsinjo, who work closely with the community to champion education, reforestation, and conservation. Discover a remarkable array of wildlife such as Indri indri, brown lemurs, and diademed sifaka, as well as chameleons and birds. A night walk after dinner reveals a whole new world of nocturnal lemurs, including the mouse lemur, white footed sportive lemur, fat-tailed dwarf lemur, and woolly lemur.

Be on the look out for the 11 other species of lemur that live here, as well as countless reptiles, invertebrates, and some of Madagascar’s hundreds of orchid species.

In the afternoon explore Lemur Island, a private reserve that protects and rehabilitates a number of habituated lemurs. There are four species to see up close here: the bamboo lemur, the black & white ruffed lemur, the brown lemur, and the diademed sifaka. After lunch, head back to Antananarivo for the evening.
