It’s time to head deeper into Norway’s mountains and iconic fjords. After breakfast and checking out from your hotel, you’ll board a high-speed ferry taking you from the vibrant coastal city of Bergen deep into the heart of the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Norway. As you cruise through serene waters, you’ll pass dramatic landscapes of towering mountains, cascading waterfalls, and picturesque villages.
You’ll disembark in Aurland, a charming village nestled between steep cliffs and the fjord’s edge, and your home for the next three nights. After checking into your boutique hotel, you’ll head to nearby Flam, where you can have the opportunity to ride on one of the most architecturally significant trains in Europe. This feat of engineering has a gradient of 5.5% and there are a whole 20 tunnels – one of them even takes a 180-degree turn. At the top, take in the view before taking the train down – or opt to zip or bike down the mountain instead.
Dinner tonight is in your hotel’s restaurant.
