Arrive to Iquitos, where you’ll be met by the Delfin’s guides and transported by bus to the city of Nauta. After boarding and check-in, you’ll have the evening to enjoy your first dinner, meet the crew and your fellow passengers, and relax as the Amazon scenery flows by.
The Delfin II, a Relais & Chateaux vessel, offers upscale Amazon River cruises as part of the Delfin Amazon Cruises fleet. The 120-foot ship has fourteen guest suites with a maximum capacity of 28 passengers. Like its sister ships the Delfin I and Delfin III, it offers an open observation deck, lounge and guest library, a bar, and a dining area featuring gourmet Peruvian cuisine. The Delfin II also offers a hammock sun deck where guests can relax and take in the beautiful scenery.

Upgrades and alternatives: Delfin I , Delfin III
Visit the Pacaya Simiria National Reserve. During the wet season (Dec – May), explore Belluda Stream by skiff, looking for parrots, macaws and monkeys. You may also see Morpho butterflies and various species of hawks, including the noisy “laughing falcon,” named for its loud falsetto call. During the dry Season (Jun – Nov), do some hiking at Belluda Caño, where you can explore two different kinds of ecosystems: “flooded forest” and “terra firme” forest. This area is home to snail kites, black-tailed ant birds, manikins, tanagers, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, nun birds, orioles, blackbirds, and pygmy marmosets. Your hike will take you to a lagoon filled with endangered and unique fresh water fish, where you can explore the waters in a dugout canoe.
In the afternoon, head to Dorado River by skiff, with a good chance of seeing gray and pink river dolphins and possibly swimming with them. You may also spot snail kites, festive parrots, endangered scarlet macaws, olive-spotted hummingbirds, Amazonian parrotlets, iguanas, squirrel monkeys, and wood creepers.
*Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Explore Atun Poza by skiff (during the wet season), spotting egrets, herons, hawks, long-legged neo-tropical cormorants, and loud horned screamers. Venture into connected black water lagoons, where wattled jacanas can be found along with a variety of spiders, grasshoppers, dragonflies, butterflies, moths, and beetles living along the freshwater swamps and marshes. You may also see social spiders, whose webs envelop huge parts of the trees. During the dry season, hike into Atun Poza, passing through tropical rainforest with emergent trees and canopy trees reaching up to 180 feet in height. You may see giant otters, and this is an excellent location for spotting birds such as the bluish-fronted jacamar, collared trogons, and red capped cardinals.
Continue up the Puinahua River towards the Pacaya River, in the heart of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, for further exploration of the largest protected wetland reserve in the world. Aboard the skiffs, explore the spectacular rainforest wilderness while searching for different species of monkeys, such as small family groups of red howler monkeys. Watch the sunset over the river, and once darkness falls you will start your night safari in search of night herons, pauraques, spectacled owls, fish bats, and the spectacled and black caimans that live in the water.
Board the skiffs and head to Caro Curahuayte Lake. During the wet season, try your hand at piranha fishing; when the forest is flooded, fruit-bearing trees tempt the piranhas and other fish into the lake to feed. During the dry season, explore in the skiffs and search for shore-birds. When the river is very low, broad white sandy beaches emerge and river islands form, creating a special ecosystem that harbors sandpipers, terns, black skimmers, egrets, jabirus, wood storks, and kingfishers.
When you return to the Delfin II for lunch, the ship will navigate back down the Puinahua River toward Iquitos. Disembark at the Yanallpa Community, where you have the chance to interact with local villagers, observe their unique way of life, and learn about the local fruit trees and how they are harvested. Back aboard the ship in the late afternoon, continue down the Puinahua River toward the Ucayali River. Tonight you will have a farewell dinner and live music performed by the Delfin staff and crew.
Board the skiffs and head to the village of Puerto Miguel to meet local villagers and learn about their culture, traditions and folklore. After lunch back aboard the ship, disembark at Nauta, where a bus will be waiting to take you back to Iquitos. En route you will stop at the Manatee Rescue Center for a brief visit before continuing to the airport for your flight back to Lima.
*Includes: Breakfast

The Delfin II was a wonderful adventure that met all my needs as far as experiencing the Amazon River - catching piranha, swimming with the pink dolphins, visiting a fishing village and hearing the sounds of the rain forest and the river.

Thank you for arranging the Amazon adventure on the Delfin III. Saw tons of wildlife, had a tarantula crawl all over me and swam with Piranha. Just incredible!
Patrick J. and Mary Jo Hogan
The Delfin I was outstanding - beautiful and comfortable, well-serviced room ... friendly/helpful staff ... and the food was amazing.
