As of December 20, 2019, passport-holders from the United States no longer need to secure a tourist visa in advance to visit Bolivia. At Customs and Immigration upon arrival to the country, Bolivian immigration officers grant entry for 30, 60, or 90 days at the discretion of the officer.
In the past, travelers from the United States have been required to obtain a visa before travel, which required a $160 fee and a complex two-part application process involving both online and paper documentation sent to the Bolivian consulate.

From the wide, glossy salt flats of Uyuni to the silver mine of Potosí that financed the Spanish Empire, Bolivia offers a unique travel experience. It’s also easier than ever to combine Bolivia with other South American destinations. Visitors to Lake Titicaca can now explore both the Peruvian side and the Bolivian side of the lake without a visa. Local flights also make it a snap to combine Bolivia with other highlight destinations like Peru and Machu Picchu.
