Hacienda Pinsaqui

Hacienda Pinsaqui offers a window onto the colonial history of the Ecuadorian highlands. Built in 1790, this restored hacienda began life as a textile workshop, employing up to a thousand local weavers and spinners. During the 19th century, fabrics woven in Pinsaqui were exported to the United States. General Simón Bolívar was a frequent guest at Hacienda Pinsaqui during his campaigns to liberate the South American colonies from Spain. Today the hacienda is a comfortable and unique place to stay while exploring the surrounding Andean highlands and visiting the nearby Otavalo market.
